People Insight’s Outstanding Workplace Award

Our Outstanding Workplace Award celebrates organisations who achieve a top-quartile employee engagement score in their People Insight survey.

About the award

Since 2021, People Insight’s Outstanding Workplace Award has celebrated organisations for achieving a top-quartile engagement score in their People Insight employee engagement survey.

Our award recognises organisations building outstanding workplace cultures and acting on employee feedback to spark positive change.

In 2022, we launched a separate category of the award, celebrating employee engagement within Higher Education. Based on our extensive Higher Education benchmark, we have developed separate criteria for this award – detailed further down.

Award criteria

The award is only applicable to People Insight employee surveys. It can be achieved year-on-year if organisations maintain or improve their  levels of engagement.

To be eligible for People Insight’s all-sector Outstanding Workplace Award, organisations must include the 5 engagement index questions from our Pearl™ engagement question set and achieve:

  • 85% or higher employee engagement score
  • 70% or higher survey response rate

Camelot’s outstanding workplace culture

A strong culture built on feedback

Camelot are operators of The National Lottery and manage some of the country’s biggest brands. They have achieved our Outstanding Workplace Award three times for their fantastic survey results, most recently achieving an employee engagement score of 91%.

We sat down with Kat, Senior Internal Comms Manager and Niamh, Head of People Experience to learn how Camelot use employee feedback to build and maintain a brilliant, engaging company culture.

What makes an outstanding workplace culture?

An outstanding workplace culture is found in organisations that have designed their strategy with employees at the heart.

They have considered key moments of the employee journey (candidacy, onboarding, performing, growth and exit), and developed strategies to deliver a consistently outstanding employee experience.

They have listened to their employees and (importantly) acted on their feedback resulting in a positive change in employees’ day-to-day experience.

Why does company culture matter?

Company culture could be described as the “vibe” employees get when they are part of your organisation.

Company culture can either energise or drain employees. It affects employee engagement, productivity and performance.

Over time, and by measuring engagement and culture, you will get a better grasp of what works for your company and what processes, traditions or behaviours influence how your employees feel.

Higher Education Outstanding Workplace Award

With over 80 higher education clients and the most robust sector benchmark, we are delighted to launch our Higher Education Outstanding Workplace Award. This award celebrates top-quartile employee engagement results within the sector, and recognises the positive action these organisations are taking to improve the employee experience.
